Electric Cable

• The electrical power to a house is supplied either through over head wires or through underground cables.

• These cable has three separated insulated wires.

• One of these is called live wire (in red insulation cover), which is at a potential of 220 V with a frequency of 50 Hz and the other is called neutral wire (in black insulation cover)., which is at zero potential and earth wire with green insulation cover.

The potential difference between live and neutral wire is 220V.

These wires (live and neutral) pass into an electricity meter (connected in homes) through a main fuse.
