Properties of GASES

 Properties of GASES

• Gas has no definite volume of shape.

• Gases have o densities compared to those of liquids and solids.

· All gases expand equally due to equal temperature difference.

DIFFUSION OF GASES

The phenomenon in which a substance mixes with another because of moleculou motion, even against gravity is called DIFFUSION

PRESSURE of a GAS

The molecules of GAS being in continuous motion, of the GASES When any of the three variables in frequently strike the inner wall of their containe and thus exen a force on the walls of the container, as well. that is the PRESSURE of a GAS

TEMPERATURE

The degree or intensity of heat present in a substance or object. It is actually the measure of average kinetic energy of the particles in an object When temperature increases the motion of these particles also increases.

COMPRESSIBILITY

Portides of a gas have large intermndicular Space among them By the application of pressure much of the space can be reduced and particles be brought closer Hence the volume of a Gas can be greatly reduced. This is called COMPRESSING the Cras.

GAS LAWS

All Gases irrespective of their chemical composition obey certain laws that govern the relationship between the volume, temperature and pressure altered, then the other variables get altered

BOYLE'S LAW

a Gas are kept constant

Where P- Pressure exeated by! GAS

V- volume of a Gas. CHARLES LAW

This law states that volume of an ideal cas is directly proportional to the absolute tempor. at constant pressure.

It states that the pressure exerted by a Gas V₁ = √2₂ (of a given mass, kept at constant temperaturs), is inversely proportional to the volume occupied" by it OR pressure and volume of a Gas are inversely proportions to each other as long as the temperature & Duantity of
